Skyblog plans world social network domination

Pierre Bellanger, CEO of French Radio station turned social media giant Skyrock has just announced at the Forrester Conference that he plans to launch English, German and Spanish versions of the company's blogging service, Skyblog, in January 2007.

Skyrock, which began life as a pirate station launched two blogs in 2002 before going on to open up a blogging platform to anyone. Despite being a French language only site it quickly grew to become France's largest blog platform.

Describing the "netamorphosis" of his company, Mr Bellanger said that his aim was to become world number one social network for the young with or without a partner company on board.

You can also see coverage at the International Herald Tribune:

Its universal potential outside France emerged as something of a surprise to Bellanger, who said that with little promotion the station started making inroads not only in French- speaking countries like Morocco and Belgium, but also in places like Spain. In September, Skyblog also attracted more than 277,000 unique visitors from the United States, according to comScore Europe, which measures Internet use. It also drew 305,000 from Germany, a nation that has not indulged in blogging as much as France.

I'm surprised they still haven't added permalinks to their platform - unless I'm going mad and can't find them. (I've been checking on them every few months for the last three years, just to see if they've sorted out permalinks, so there's a very valid argument that I went mad some time ago.)

That is strange!
